How I Keep Track of Your Blogs

Just to let you guys know, I have been keeping notes on the progress of your blogs, as you can see in the example below.  So, I guess you could describe our class as an ongoing writing contest where your performance is compared to that of your peers.  It's a bit challenging, and requires you to continually write "on the fly" taking on various kinds of assignments in a public forum.  Nothing is particularly difficult, such as a Johnson paper, but the writing skills I want you to develop are: the ability to provide the best possible direction for your writing in response to what an assignment asks for; the initiative to write for the sake of writing; the critical thinking skills required to develop original ideas for various types of writing; the attention to detail needed to present your work in its best possible light (making it professional and pretty); the desire to interact with other writers in a public space.   I think "blogging" is the new reality for the written word (and has been for more than a few years), and I hope you've developed your writer's voice through this experience.  On the whole, I'm incredibly impressed with the 16th wave, and I think, as a group, you have the potential to be remembered as "the wave full of good writers."

To give me a chance to analyze each of your blogs individually (it does take a lot of time), I am going to set the deadline for this class to fall on:

December 10th.

That means you are free to continue writing what you want, but I can't promise I will take it into account after that point.  So, aim to have your blog in tip-top shape by this point at the latest.  I am going to start batch-grading your assignments.
