So I really want to be a good writer someday to achieve my goal as a writer, and i'm sure that this English class will help me a lot in achieving my goal.-Mina

I really like fantasy novels, because I can extract my personal thoughts and pour it back to the novel. Not only reading I love, but also writing . I give some romantic elements to the novel. That's why I don’t have a girlfriend. I’m currently trying to find out how to make cheesy things such as magic into a none-cheesy writing.-Jihoon

Read a lot of high quality books; that’s the key to your fruitful success in writing. Most writing experts say there are outputs, which means good writing, only when there are lots of inputs, which means reading. -Minsun

Fortunately, I have recently been breaking down the walls of the box that constrained me with an unseen chain of conformation, writing norms, typical essay rules, and so on. Most of the essays that freed me from so restraints are about my own emotions.-Hyunjee

 

I always wrote essays with a self-discriminatory attitude, thinking negatively about my work, and having no passion to revise it after completing. Attitudes turn up to be a factor greatly influencing the results, which in my case again influenced the attitudes even more. All in all, the bad cycle continued. -Minjung

With a lot of imagination for a 10 year old, I used to put all of that into paper. Before writing class was when the clock seemed to move 10 times more slowly, as I started to prepare my writing file, thinking of how Mary, the main character of my story, will make her way out of the hay house she got into, or how to describe the northern part of ‘Swan Lake’.- Nuri

Since Middle school and up till now, luckily I had an opportunity to study with the most gifted students all over Korea. When it came to knowledge and skills, there was always at least one friend who had an admiring talent that I constantly wanted to catch up. Writing skills was a no exception. The first time I realized that I had to improve on my writing was during peer editing time at school. -Seongjun

 

It was during the summer vacation that my perception toward writing has changed. I registered to philosophy course that discussed justice, sympathy, art, and other philosophical concepts. Those were completely new to me, but were so fascinating that I quickly fell in love with the course. When essay assignment was given, I was ready to swim in the pool of philosophy.-Yeji

Also, I tend to write flowery sentences filled with metaphors and other literary elements, especially in the introductions. Sometimes I set these as my theme and stick to them throughout the essay. For instance, if I was to write about the value of honesty, I would probably compare honesty to storm, because both of them initially give pain but turns out to be helpful later on. Being fun and metaphorical seems to be two of my representative writing styles.-Hyejoon

When I write these formal essays, I am good at thinking out examples and hooks. For me, it is easier to think of a sound example than to write logically about my opinion. I think of historical, personal, social, and sometimes fake examples. These examples attract readers and make my writing more interesting, and more persuasive. When you argue with an example that stands, it is more prevailing than arguing only by your logic.-Jiyoon
