For some assignments, I'll often select snippets of your writing to feature if they are particularly well written or poignant.  I'll also clean them up before I post them if there are any errors.  So you might want to see what things I changed.  I encourage you to read and think about them. 

 My strength is that I am an emotional person. I get inspiration from any teeny, tiny things. And those things can be a good material or examples in writing. And I try to revise sentences or words again and again to express more effectively and convey more emotionally to readers. In other words, I am a hard-working writer though I am not gifted in writing in English. - Lee See Hee

Considering the fact that my grandfather was a poet, I was able to learn his sensitivity in writing. In every single second, my grandfather seemed indulged with many different things. Though it may seem awkward and annoying, for me, he seemed like he was fully possessing himself. I admired this aspect of him and it allowed me to at least gain a little sensitivity which helps me greatly when spreading my words throughout a paper. – Howook

To be honest, in the first semester, I didn’t even care about the quality of the writing. I just concentrated on finishing the assignment on time. I think it’s partially because of Mrs.Choi’s overwhelming homework, but it’s mainly my fault since I never tried to do better. I’ll try to give many efforts on my homework. - Inchan

My essay was nothing more than a heap of Zimbabwe words that no one could understand. However, I figured out that writing is actually entertaining. I wanted to make others feel emotions that I felt and think the way as I thought. To be specific, I wanted others to be in my shoes. So I decided to be a ‘real’ writer.-Woohyung

It did not take long to discover my second problem after I understood my first weakness. I do not know for sure if this counts as a weakness as a writer, however I found out that my writing speed is extremely slower than people around me. It takes me a large amount of time to think of a sentence that can satisfy me. This problem also suits for this essay which everybody said to be very easy to write. Yet this is taking me more time than I originally expected.-Jiho

I do not have a writing style, and frankly the disappointing “nothingness” of my answer persuaded me that I should not have one.  Writing should be a tool to delve into a deeper cause and reveal a deeper meaning; prose or eloquence should not be the goal itself.  Eloquence will follow conviction and truth, and a writer should appropriately mold his style to fit his work’s purpose.-Yoojin

I borrowed some books and spent several days reading and summarizing requisite facts in my term paper. After this process, I started to write a paper and after two weeks, I finally finished my first term paper. Then, I spent last week correcting my errors in references, grammar, and context. After I finished all, I was really proud of myself who challenged myself and did my best to complete my term paper.-Yoonju

While writing my own works, I hope to translate Korean literature at KLTI (Korean Literatrue Translation Institute) into English and spread it worldwide. I believe Korean literature has power to encourage and cheer up not only Koreans, but also foreigners. It is worth to be spread, and I am craving to be the one who can be regarded as a figure who participate the new history of Korean literature on abroad. - Haryung

My ultimate goal is to write an essay that fully delivers my thoughts and ideas without any grammar mistakes. Sometimes as I write in English, I feel like my original thoughts are miswritten due to inappropriate expressions and vocabularies. Then I feel the need to improve my level of English, specifically by learning many expressions and through writing many essays. - Sang Eon

 

Going through my essays, though few, I find some characteristics in common: I follow the basic structure of the 5 paragraph essay. As Ms. Choi taught fundamental structure of a paragraph and a 5 paragraph essay, I try to fit in the form. Of course, it is not a good way to write a dynamic, and creative essay. Nevertheless, I can’t run before I walk. I build the strong basic and then create my own style. – Jiseon

Additionally, I need to learn some vocabularies that would make my writing fancier. Since it is difficult to memorize vocabularies on my own, it will be very helpful. However, the most important thing to improve writing is reading. Reading a lot of great works will eventually lead students as a good writer. I expect many good reading materials and lessons in the class. But I don’t expect heavy workloads which will make me stay all nights. – Soyoung

My style? What is my style?' I was stunned when I got this question, because I have never thought about this kind of thing before. Actually, I found it difficult to say, even though it's related with myself. Sometimes it is hard to see myself objectively. However, I tried to look back my trace of writing style, and I found something. – Jingyeong

I really like writing about topics based on social issues. As a student reporter on Daily Economy, I usually write an article per two weeks. It is a good chance and interesting thing to show my opinion on public newspaper. When I write an article, I usually write about recent economic situations or about some political event and I try to write based on facts. This, writing based on facts, is my strength on writing. -Seunghyeong

Some people say that grammar is less important if the writer can just show his or her idea. I disagree with them. Even with small grammar mistakes, the meaning of the sentence can be totally changed, and accordingly readers may misunderstand writer’s intention. As I said above, the purpose of writing is to transport writer’s intention to readers and if it can’t, that piece of writing will be useless.-Soyeon

I’m looking forward to post a ton of the work in this blog, just because that I will be very proud of myself at the end of the semester. I actually love to look back at my old writings, although they often lack good quality. It feels like a trip on a time machine, and provides me a chance to see how my writing has been improving over time. I felt very awkward when I looked at my piece of writing in 7^th grade.  I’m so excited about this semester! – Seungin
